JULY WORSHIP SERIES 2021
SUNDAY, JULY 4TH, 2021 - Sixth Sunday after Pentecost
Readings are Galatians 5:1-6 and the Gospel of Mark 6:1-13
We are thankful with a sense of gratitude for the many blessings we have received, even as we acknowledge that we are not always good Christians within our community. Humility can help us to feel superior to others. We are celebrating "Independence and the birth of a new nation."
Our faith is telling us about our journey with Jesus and then with one another. We, all together, are friends and companions on our life voyage, and we, all together, are disciples of Jesus Christ. The letter to the Galatians emphasizes the word "freedom." "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free." (Galatians 5:1)
What does freedom mean? It is a word that we use loosely, and it has an ambiguous connotation in our vocabulary. Freedom is not only a gift that we received from God that a responsibility that God placed in our hands and heart. Is the question, are you free? Or, how free are you? Perhaps, the question should be, what are we going to do with our freedom? There is a choice to make. What will we choose?
SUNDAY, JULY 11th, 2021 - Seventh Sunday after Pentecost
Readings are Ephesians 1:3-14 and the Gospel of Mark 6:14-29
Today is the second Sunday in July. We are going to have the second potluck of the year. We come together to worship in the body of Christ and to throw a party full of hope. We are living our life together.
SUNDAY, JULY 18th, 2021 - Eighth Sunday after Pentecost
Readings: Ephesians 2:11-22 and the Gospel of Mark 6:30-44
Message: Hunger and Peace
In Paul's letter to the Ephesians, we are settling in God's place because Jesus had broken the walls that divide people. We as Christians focus on hospitality, embracing one another, and lifting each one in prayer and faith. Who has a place among us? Who is left out? We are a loving community that has the willingness to include, to invite, to make welcome those whom society rejected or did not make room for them.
Let us use our eyes to see as Jesus saw. God is in our midst. What does it mean to be God's home? What walls are we going to take down? Are we ready to bring transformation to our environment?
SUNDAY, JULY 25th, 2021 - SERVICE @ ROSE PARK!
Ninth Sunday after Pentecost
Readings: Ephesians 3:14-21 and the Gospel of Luke 6:17-26
We experience God's love in our lives. How do we understand love in God? There is only one avenue that it is by living it, by sharing it and talking about it.
